The department is committed to advancing the fields of Agricultural Engineering, Mechanized Agriculture, and the use of agricultural machinery, through graduates holding Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees."

The Department of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment at the College of Agriculture aims to achieve a set of objectives that contribute to the modernization and development of the agricultural sector through the use of engineering technologies. The most important objectives include:

1. Preparing Specialized Cadres: Training agricultural engineers specialized in agricultural machinery and equipment, equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for designing, operating, maintaining, and managing various agricultural machines and equipment.

2. Developing and Modernizing Agricultural Machinery: Contributing to the development and modernization of machinery and equipment used in different agricultural operations (tillage, seeding, planting, irrigation, harvesting, and post-harvest processes) to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

3. Improving the Efficiency of Agricultural Operations: Teaching students how to select, operate, and maintain agricultural machinery properly in order to enhance efficiency, save time and effort, and reduce costs.

4. Applying Modern Technologies in Agriculture: Integrating modern engineering technologies into agricultural machinery, such as automation systems, remote sensing, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for precision agriculture.

5. Designing and Manufacturing Agricultural Machinery: Providing students with fundamental knowledge in designing and manufacturing simple agricultural machinery and equipment suitable for local conditions.

6. Maintenance and Repair of Agricultural Machinery: Teaching students how to conduct routine maintenance and necessary repairs to ensure efficient machine performance and extend the service life of equipment.

7. Evaluating Machinery Performance: Training students on how to assess the performance of different agricultural machines and select the most suitable equipment for various operations based on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

8. Conducting Applied Scientific Research: Carrying out applied scientific research in the field of agricultural machinery to provide solutions for farmers’ challenges and to develop more efficient and sustainable agricultural technologies.

9. Community Service and Consultation: Offering advisory services to farmers, governmental, and private institutions regarding the selection, operation, and maintenance of agricultural machinery.

10. Raising Awareness of Agricultural Mechanization: Promoting the importance of modern agricultural machinery and equipment in increasing productivity, improving product quality, and reducing dependence on manual labor.

11. Safety in Machinery Use: Educating students on occupational safety principles in operating and maintaining agricultural machinery to reduce accidents and injuries.

12. Collaboration with Relevant Institutions: Establishing cooperative relationships with agricultural machinery manufacturers, governmental and private institutions, and research centers to exchange expertise and further develop the field of agricultural mechanization.
