Division of Media and Government Communication

The Division of Media and Government Communication serves as the reflective mirror of all activities within the College of Agriculture. The division is responsible for documenting and editing press releases related to the college’s events and activities, and for publishing them on the official website as well as on social media platforms. It also plays a key role in introducing the mission, objectives, and vision of the College, in addition to strengthening communication bridges with Iraqi universities and peer colleges.

Duties of the Division of Media and Government Communication
  • Introducing the role, mission, and vision of the College, and striving to build a positive image among both internal and external audiences.

  • Covering all types of activities and events, including conferences, seminars, workshops, and sports festivals.

  • Publishing all news and announcements related to the College, and facilitating the work of journalists and media representatives in obtaining relevant information.

  • Engaging with the university community and meeting its needs by providing accurate information and statistical data.

  • Managing the College’s official website and social media pages.

  • Coordinating with media outlets to disseminate the College’s message and community services, as well as organizing press meetings and conferences for its officials.

  • Providing media documentation of all College activities.

  • Publishing electronic lectures of all College faculty members.

  • Documenting and publishing the activities carried out by faculty members inside and outside the University.

  • Documenting the scientific defenses of postgraduate students (Master’s and PhD).

  • Recording and publishing extracurricular activities and voluntary campaigns conducted by students.

  • Supporting the College and its departments in organizing and implementing events and conferences.

  • Organizing social, cultural, and academic events and occasions.

  • Preparing news reports and academic/media content for publication on the College’s website.

  • Monitoring and archiving media coverage related to the College.

  • Planning, coordinating, and supervising the implementation of activities and public events approved by the College.

Website Unit and Its Duties

1. Website Development and Maintenance

  • Designing and developing new pages and features for the website.

  • Updating and maintaining codes and software to ensure efficient and secure operation.

  • Enhancing performance and improving website loading speed.

  • Ensuring compatibility across different browsers and devices (computers, smartphones, tablets).

  • Performing regular backups of the website and its database.

  • Troubleshooting and fixing any technical errors or malfunctions.

2. Content Management

  • Creating, editing, and publishing content (texts, images, videos, files) on the website.

  • Organizing and categorizing content for easy access.

  • Reviewing and updating outdated content to ensure accuracy and relevance.

  • Managing user access permissions for content editors.

3. Website Security

  • Implementing security measures to protect the website from hacking, malware, and cyberattacks.

  • Monitoring the website for suspicious activity and taking appropriate actions.

  • Regularly updating security systems and software to address vulnerabilities.

  • Managing SSL security certificates.

4. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

  • Conducting keyword analysis relevant to website content and target audiences.

  • Optimizing site structure and content to improve search engine visibility.

  • Building high-quality backlinks to the website.

  • Monitoring and analyzing website performance on search engines and making necessary adjustments.

5. Data Analytics

  • Tracking and analyzing visitor data (visitor count, most visited pages, traffic sources, user behavior).

  • Preparing periodic reports on website performance and providing improvement recommendations.

  • Using web analytics tools such as Google Analytics.

6. Technical Support

  • Providing technical assistance to users facing issues with the website.

  • Responding to visitor inquiries through contact forms or email.

Photography and Video Editing Unit and Its Duties

1. Photography and Videography

  • Event Coverage: Capturing various events (conferences, seminars, workshops, social activities, etc.) for documentation.

  • Visual Production: Taking high-quality photographs and recording professional video clips according to requirements.

  • Preparation for Shooting: Setting up equipment (cameras, lenses, lighting, sound), selecting suitable locations, and arranging scenes.

  • Creative Photography: Applying different photographic techniques to produce distinctive and appealing shots.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring the functionality and cleanliness of equipment and performing basic maintenance.

2. Video Editing and Post-Production

  • Footage Compilation: Arranging and organizing captured footage to create a coherent and seamless story.

  • Visual and Audio Effects: Using editing software to add visual effects (transitions, animations) and audio effects (music, sound effects) to enhance video quality.

  • Color and Lighting Correction: Adjusting colors and lighting to ensure a professional and consistent look.

  • Text and Graphics Integration: Adding explanatory texts, titles, and graphic elements into videos.

  • Final Output: Producing final versions of videos in appropriate formats for publishing or presentation.

3. Visual Asset Management

  • Archiving Photos and Videos: Organizing and storing visual materials systematically for easy future access.

  • Creating a Visual Library: Indexing and categorizing photos and videos using accurate metadata.

4. Additional Duties

  • Scriptwriting and Storyboarding: Occasionally participating in writing simple scripts or developing visual concepts for projects.

  • Collaboration with Other Departments: Coordinating with other units such as Marketing and Media to produce visual content that supports institutional goals.
