As Part of Entrepreneurship Week… The College of Agriculture Organizes a Seminar Titled “The Role of Universities in Preventing Terrorism and Extremist Ideology and Promoting Community Awareness.”

Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and supervised by the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Assistant Professor Dr. Sami Khudair Saeed, the College of Agriculture organized a series of specialized courses and seminars as part of Entrepreneurship Week under the theme: “The Role of Universities in Preventing Terrorism and Extremist Ideology and Promoting Community Awareness.”

These events aimed to strengthen the role of academic institutions in protecting society from extremism by promoting a culture of moderation and tolerance, and by shielding youth from deviant ideas that threaten security and social peace. The seminars addressed multiple topics, including the methods extremist groups use to exploit social spaces and ways to counter them through intellectual awareness and academic education.

During the opening, the Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Sami Khudair Saeed, emphasized that universities serve as the first line of defense against ideological terrorism, given their ability to build sound cognitive awareness among students and the wider community. He noted that these events reflect the university’s commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence and rejecting violence.

A distinguished group of faculty members and experts delivered in-depth lectures on the challenges faced by youth amid the rise of extremist ideologies, methods to protect the university environment and society from such threats, and the role of awareness and guidance in promoting national belonging and civic behavior.

The events witnessed significant participation from students and university staff, who highlighted the importance of such initiatives in building an informed society capable of confronting ideological threats and continuing the path of stability and development.

The College of Agriculture affirmed its commitment to continuing the implementation of specialized programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing intellectual security and promoting values of moderation and openness among students and the broader community.
